<BernieRoehl> One of the aspects of BDSM that a lot of people never really experiment with as much as they'd like is roleplaying
<BernieRoehl> The basic idea is that for the purposes of a scene, one or both (or all...) of the participants become someone different from who they normally are.
<BernieRoehl> So... has anyone here experimented with roleplaying?

<BernieRoehl> Do others here find that even when there is an ongoing "role" on a dailyl basis, that it's heightened in-scene?
<Father^John> well it did open for us a new area to explore ,, but havent much for roll playing
<Schadde> Hmm... I would think so, as 'daily life' doesn't intrude on 'play-time'. Thus there's more attention put into it.

<puellula`Lupi> no, actually i am not really into the "costume" part of role-play....

<puellula`Lupi> and the costuming isn't necessary for me to "go there"
<BernieRoehl> Can you talk about the process of entering that headspace? How do you "go there"?
<puellula`Lupi> well, i have to really hand over that responsibility to my Master....He tends to get me there through His speech, mannerisms etc..
<puellula`Lupi> though i suppose at times i do it myself
<BernieRoehl> Was ageplay something you had tried before meeting your Master, or did he introduce you to it?
<puellula`Lupi> it is very rarely a consious effort on either of our parts though....it tends to just slip in
<puellula`Lupi> sometimes more deeply than others
<puellula`Lupi> well, it is something that He and i explored together for the first time in a consious way
<puellula`Lupi> i had some experiences with others where the "feelings" of being a little girl were there...but they were not spoken of, or fully realized

<puellula`Lupi> i think the two most interesting things about role-play for me have been ...

<puellula`Lupi> 1, that i didn't realize just HOW into it i could be...i truly felt like i was that little girl
<puellula`Lupi> and 2, how much more aftercare was necessary...to get back into a regular headspace...far more than any other type of scene

<puellula`Lupi> not really Father^John...i have dressed up like a schoolgirl....but that was just "fetwear"...never gotten into the headspace in public

<puellula`Lupi> i am not sure i could...a the atmosphere of a public fet night doesn't fit with a "little girl" scene lol

<puellula`Lupi> well...it expresses itself outside of my relationship most definately...in dress (at times), speech, actions
<puellula`Lupi> but i tend to let go in that direction more with my Daddy :)
<MistressSarcastica> I have a Daddy, but you're not likely to see us engage in that way. It's a very private type of incestuous interaction.

<puellula`Lupi> i guess because it is such a part of me...it doesn't feel like a role

<puellula`Lupi> but i think part of that may be because i feel like a little girl just because of my personality, and also the gap in age difference between my Master and myself

<puellula`Lupi> i think the characteristics are often part of us...but the details are sometimes very specific...and so, very clear that it is a role

<BernieRoehl> A lot of it is about finding the persona from inside ourselves, and bringing it to the surface
<puellula`Lupi> like...i feel like a little girl...that is part of me...but if i am in a kilt and bent over desk ...i *know* i am not actually attending elementary school

<`abi> this may be restating Bernie's earlier question about headspace...but how does one get past the feeling that this is like Hallowe'en and make it feel somehow real?

<TruDomme> I've watched lucius' eyes when he talks about ponyplay...definitely a headspace
<BernieRoehl> Well, there's a whole system of thought that says we all have "animal essences" inside us. Some people are feline by nature and temperment, others are canine, others equine.
<Father^John> if the sub feels the need to be brought to their animal side Buzzard`
<puellula`Lupi> abi, i found the lack of costume and strict scenario helped it feel real...so now the props are just fun but feel less odd
<BernieRoehl> For some people who do animal roleplaying, it's about contacting their inner essences, much like reaching the child inside during ageplay

<BernieRoehl> That objectification is very powerful -- and part of what makes it feel more real

<MistressSarcastica> Well, the submissive in question has a number of fears and fetishes. fire being a big fear, religion being a big fetish.

<MistressSarcastica> I am going to follow up on the fireblanket. What would then run, and how do they work?

<BernieRoehl> Seriously, that level of fireplay is not something I would recommend
<Buzzard`> perhaps talk to some stuntmen

<BernieRoehl> Most fireplay is done with a lot of care and precision. Burning someone at the stake is *very* dangerous, because the flames will be hard to control preciselyl.
<DarkAngel^{rt}> we are talking more like stiff canvass for total fire proof ,,, the other is to smother flames on a person ,, but it will catch fire slowly
<MistressSarcastica> as I said, we've negotiated first-degree burns, Bernie. At the level at which she plays, some level of injury is acceptable.
<BernieRoehl> The traditional approach stuntmen take is firesuits, that allow them to be actually set on fire for ten or fifteen seconds

<MistressSarcastica> We're thinking more like a suspension rigging to get her up and away. But it's very much in the still-talking-about stage.

<BernieRoehl> Controlling the flame precisely enough to produce only first-degree burns, without causing permanent scarring, may be impossible.
<`abi> and heat and fire rises, so I'm not sure that "up and away" is too wise

<MistressSarcastica> Drownings are great for roleplay -- lovely for interrogation scenes -- captured and tortured.

<BernieRoehl> Well, it would depend on how deeply into role they go abi

<BernieRoehl> And what's hidden deep in the person's psyche. If they have personal demons, certain types of roleplaying may bring those things to the surface.
